Who Am I?

A Hindu Proverb thus quotes

"God loves us

Not for what we are

But what he can make of us."

(Sri Chinmoy)

So who am I?

I unearth myself seeking the answer to this question on my more introspective days.

I want to be someone exotic - Mysterious and inexplicable.

Maybe the women's version of James Bond!

I want to be glamorous… Exciting…controversial (Just like Britney maybe!)

I want to be trendy and elegant and Stylish like the women you see on the cover of Vogue magazine.

I want to be worldly wise. Sophisticated. Urbane. Cosmopolitan.

But who am I?

I am nothing like that...in actuality.

I'm a simple woman who is married since past 10 glorious months.

I live in a town called Portland which is on the Western coast of America.

I'm a wife. I'm a daughter. I'm a sister.

But what else am I besides impersonating these roles?

I am intolerant. I am egocentric. Much like you see when someone's in line, tapping their foot and thinking they should really be at the front of the line.

I am prideful. I am late (almost always). "Five more minutes" is my dogma.

I am raw. I am bigheaded (man, this part of the post is rough).

But it's not all that bad afterall?!

Sometimes I shut my eyes and realize these are all traits in my personality that I have a control over. This is not what I am really. Instead I think more spiritually, like the kind where angels are floating around, piously.

I believe there is a supreme Power whom we refer to as – “God” and what has he made of me?

I am gentle. I am sensitive and insightful. I feel the pain of others and want to make it go away.

I am kind. I am considerate and sympathetic. I want everyone around me to be happy- an impossible expectation, but I still try.

I am enduring. I am affectionate. I fall in love with almost anyone and anything.

This is how he has created me. He's taken who I am - a wife, daughter and sister and he's made me this way.

I couldn't do it without him.
