Open Letter to People Who Do Not Reply to Emails.

Dear People who don't reply to my emails,

I'd want to trust that my first email to you got misplaced, never went through or wretchedly fell victim to your spam box. The reality is some people just don't care enough to exchange electronic communication with me which just tempts me to want to email you people all the more.

Miserably with all the communication technology out there we are sanctified /loaded with never-ending reasons of why we do not reply to emails : "my phone has been acting up lately" or  “ I haven’t been able to check my mails for days now” ( Oh yeah! I can see how you got time in between to be online on Facebook though) “Oh, you sent an email to me? when? “(Just when you were busy ignoring my mail, sweetheart!). I mean what kind of people would not reply to mails? And no, I am not referring to those foolhardy forwarded mails. I am talking about mails which pose a question, discuss a plan or are intended to be replied to.

When some people don’t reply to my e-mails, I always believe, maybe something catastrophic must have happened - Like perhaps they got smacked by a meteorite or maybe the aliens abducted them.

I believe I must understand that maybe you all have much better things to do (like investing one full day stalking people on Facebook) than to be online all day replying to my emails. You probably have better things to do in life – like assisting Obama on his political decisions that can change the world, or maybe you are the invisible Spiderman, on his/her way to save the world.

I hope that in the coming days,  I comprehend that the world does not in fact spin around me and that “you people” aren’t going to form a unison to all mark me as spam. As in, it’s not like you are even thinking about me to the extent that I think about you?

But if you are reading this post right now – and you know who you are - my blog – the lines ahead are for you.

I wish that the days ahead fetch you nothing but an inbox overflowing with Nigerian bank hoax attempt, body part enlargement ads and messages that your ex-girlfriend /boyfriend who caused you a heartbreak lately, got wedded to someone much better looking.

Additionally, please send me your address so that I can send you a book on “Easy to follow E-mail etiquettes “along with a pet pigeon that you can use to carry forward and back, some important messages.

Eat this; Not that

Hello Readers! This one’s about all those mama-to-be’s (including myself), who are often driven fanatical by all the neurotic, micromanaging pregnancy advice they get free of cost from all sides, particularly her relatives and friends. I am compelled to write this post following the string of advices an expectant woman is bombarded with – most of the time with people who don’t even matter.

Pregnancy sure brings endless joys, excitement and a beautiful feeling in a woman’s life. However on the onset (especially for the first timers) for a woman it also implies being bombarded by heaps of advices – Some of which do make sense while others can be happily ignored. It is only in the last age band or so that the prospective mothers have even known precisely which fingernail was being created during which phase of which trimester. Now that we do distinguish, it’s very difficult not to fret about it all, but we actually don’t need to. I get so exasperated with the advises pouring from all sectors of people regarding what to eat, what not to eat, what to do and what not to do, as if one sub-optimal nibble leads to ruining the child, while nine months’ worth of gold stars implies our kids will never go through a bad hair day or any struggle or low-paid jobs or thwarted outlook in life.

Well, it isn’t so. I agree on eating well, sleeping well, and most of all hoping well for the best, for all pregnant ladies. However, the fact is that it’s all actually not all up to you, and it’ll make you fed-up if you feel it is.

People need to understand that pregnancy isn’t an illness, you don’t require to be treated for it, and enormous dietary modifications are perhaps more detrimental to your health than useful. A glass of cola once in a while is less damaging than feeling strained while craving for it. A warm (not boiling, but lukewarm) bath is comforting, which is good for the baby in your womb as compared to a cool bath that doesn’t aid in easing your backaches and soreness. Besides raising many eyebrows, people must understand that light exercises like swimming, yoga, walking etc. will only lead to a healthy mother and the baby.

An acquaintance from the gym that was pregnant was told by her doctor that she could continue attending her aerobics classes up until her child popped out. She did just that and recently delivered an 8 pound baby successfully.

In a contrary case, I know of a woman who was so vigilant about what she ate and did and what that she never even chewed sugarless gum. Consequence: her child was born with loads of allergies.

We live in this world and must act like it. Existing in a fizz is not similar to being cautious. Same as being energetic and active is not equivalent to being careless.
Finally, there is just one piece of suggestion that I’d like to give all the co-mommies (many of who are my friends):- Trust your gut feelings and yourself. What’s not good for you, can’t be good for your baby and vice versa. And most of all enjoy this phase. It shall never return.

Shashi Tharoor Twittering Away to Trouble - Holy Cow!

In the dominion of spurious hullabaloos, what India’s Foreign Minister Shashi Tharoor is in the middle of is derisorily jesting. Someone requires flushing the two-facedness that chokes India’s political dissertation.

It is bizarre that the PM Manmohan Singh was made to fling Shashi, a salvation as political storms spin around him, intimidating to sink his embryonic career. And what surprises me most is that- all this is for a clichéd witticism on a yet another social networking portal that flourishes on banal puns (intended or unintended). Twitter sure, could not have drawn itself the type of promotion it is getting right now- credit to Shashi Tharoor’s controversial expression on solidarity with “holy cows” who travel in the “cattle class” and the hyperactive responses of political parties.

The Congress Party, of which Shashi Tharoor seems to be an insignificant constituent of, went into a self-virtuous dither over the Twitter trade. It appears as if the ex- U.N. diplomat’s trivial imprudence has given way to some deep-settled bitterness against him. whilst the Congress Party viewed the comment as offensive to India’s “aam janta” (the Mango People in Filmy Lingo) who travel in the economy class, however what no one is able to elucidate is how many of these “aam janta” people (excuse my affinity to use this term so often- I just love it!) that the party owns up to toil for can really have enough money for an air travel?

The BJP had a diverse and expected opinion on the issue, on the other hand. In their political formula the terms “holy cows” triggered the panic buttons right away. A BJP Spokesman promptly commented that associating cattle class with the holy cow is just as odious against India’s culture and “sabhyata”. The conception that any sardonic “cow kind” indication is an insult against India’s culture and traditions could have only originated from this party. If cows are sacred and they are also cattle, what’s so offensive about “cattle class”?

Undeniably, there was completely nothing even distantly controversial or insulting about what Shashi Tharoor might have tweeted in a jiffy. The trouble is the background inside which he functions, comes with an intrinsic bolt on non-interventionist expression. At some stage the negative responses to Shashi Tharoor’s tweets also accentuate the split between youthful, new generation political leaders who are stepping into a range of parties and old-fashioned ones still gripping outdated concepts and philosophies. With the cocktail of tech savvy young cream of the crop and with victorious non-political proficient backdrops, this major modification seems inevitable. This is an intermediary chapter where the old is still attempting to implement authority whilst the new is taking it apart.

Spilling the Secrets of Freelancing

Of late, many young married and unmarried women have been making their inquisitive inquiries from me regarding my Freelance Career and how I make money out of it.
Well, to be honest, I divide these women/men (my good friends and relatives) into two categories. The first category belongs to the ones who genuinely wish to work from home by instantly becoming a Freelance Writer, but do not know what it takes to be a writer, nor do they have any inclination for writing. They just want to make money- Why? Because everyone is doing it. Lame!

The second category belongs to the housewives who also, genuinely wish to work from home, have the right skill set and the bend of mind to write and understand the intricacies involved. For them, this job does not confined to just earning money. Instead, it’s a way to put their skill set into a profitable work option.
I recall, a few days back one of my relative had asked me about venturing into the world of freelance. The person has never written an article in his/her entire life, nor does he/she have the penchant for writing. He/she wants to do it, just because he/she knows one can easily make money out of it. Some queries are even more amusing, when someone once asked me “Do you have to click ads all day long?”
Well, no, Ma’am, I do not click ads all day long, even though that’s yet another rewarding option of earning money online. I am just a simple Writer, who has yet a lot of things to learn.

In contrast to this, my neighbor in Portland, who has now turned into a very close friend of mine, also had similar aspirations to achieve something big from within the limitations of her home, family and children. She is a qualified Ayurveda Doctor. She too, wanted to freelance articles for some of the clients I was working for. Her precincts, however, were – her lack of knowledge of using Microsoft Word and some linguistic issues. However, she tried and tried really hard. She gave it her best shot. Unfortunately, she was rejected by my clients. In all this, what I admired most was her proclivity to learn. She had no qualms about asking endless questions to me without feeling ashamed as most people do. Today, she might not be making an earning through freelancing, but she is effectively contributing to her family’s economic set up, by running a day care in her house. She realized, her skill set and interests, which revolve around taking care of young children. She is successful in her own ways, today, and I am very proud of her triumph.

I do not wish to offend anyone here. It’s good to have aspirations to do something lucrative and money spinning kind of a job from the comfort of your house. For some, it could be an easy, extra source of income, given to the current global downturn. However, what I feel is most imperative is to “recognize “your skill set. Someone might not write well, but could be a good painter. While someone might be a bad painter, but could be a good photographer, this list is endless. From online surveys to product reviews, the online market is flooded with jobs to suit everyone’s skill set. Thus, what is important is that one must identify where his/her interest recline and accordingly pick up a job to suit your skill set.

Additionally, since lately I have been receiving many queries about a career in Freelancing, I decided to develop a blog to help all the aspiring writers who are trying to achieve something big in the world of writing.

Ask me why this social service in form of this blog? Well, because I believe, there is a skylight of prospects for every person and I have a persuasive enthrallment with showing people, in all walks of life, how to live the life they wish for, not bending or accommodating them to fit in the life they live.
